A wide net is not a deep one. Count the men who would show up at 2 a.m.
A man builds a few deep bonds instead of collecting many shallow ones. The real measure is not how many people know his name — it is how many would show up, without being asked, when it actually mattered.
Connection has been counterfeited into a number: followers, contacts, the wide and weightless net. But a wide net is not a deep one, and the man who learns this late learns it hard — in a hospital waiting room, or a divorce, or a 2 a.m. that no audience attends. Meaningful bonds are not found; they are built, with time and attention and the willingness to be inconvenienced. The man with three real brothers is rich in the only currency that shows up when the money and the applause have both gone quiet.
The Stoic source

The Scripture

The move
